Amsterdam Museum on the AmstelArt made by children
What is freedom? And what does freedom sound or smell like? This year's ELJA Kindermuseumlab exhibition focuses on the theme of Freedom. Children from the seven boroughs and Weesp district will present their works of art that they created during the Amsterdam Museumkamp. The works range from a folding screen to a throne and are made of different materials and techniques such as screen printing or photography.
Door de kinderen gelijkwaardig te benaderen, gunnen ze ons een inkijkje in hoe zij reflecteren op henzelf, hun omgeving en de wereld.’”

About the ELJA Kindermuseumlab
During the period 2023-2025, Amsterdam children (ages 9-12) will have the chance to help think about the city museum of the future. What will it look like? And what does the ultimate museum for and by children look like? By participating in the Amsterdam Museumkamp, collaborating on artworks, putting together exhibitions, and installing a children's sounding board group and children's director, Amsterdam children are helping to build their own children's museum.
They are helping to open the eyes of the public and staff and make the museum the place for children. But above all, making and looking at art provides opportunities for the children to reflect on themselves, their environment and the world.
