Portrait Contest
Portraits of North-Holland
5 Feb - 9 Jun 2024
The competition
The Frans Hals Museum and the Amsterdam Museum are joining forces for the Faces of North Holland exhibitions, showcasing the 'faces and stories of today' from the province. Historical portraits in museums tell interesting stories and bring the past to life. But the time of these works of art is far behind us, and yet we don't always see this reflected in museums. Therefore, it is high time for fresh faces and new stories. Because to be heard, you also have to be seen.
The portrait contest is an invitation to everyone to capture 'the faces of today' in North Holland in a photo, video, poem, audio or something else. This contest has now closed, but now is the time to vote for your favourite!
The competition
From 5 February to 12 May, all North Hollanders could submit a portrait for the portrait competition. This yielded more than 1,000 new portraits. In the near future, the jury will select three winners, but there is also a public prize to be won. Will you vote for your favourite portrait? Take a good look at all the beautiful works and let us know which ones appeal to you most. Voting is open until 9 June 2024.
