    The workshop

Participants will be welcomed at the Atelier Meister-Scauso, where they will learn about the history of the place, the forges and the Atelier. The story of the place is important because it has a strong link to Amsterdam, which will also be the focus of the workshop. Participants are invited to think about their connection to the city and are given the opportunity to get to work themselves. They will make a design for a small piece of metal art and develop it, using different metal techniques.

    Daniele Scauso

Daniele Scauso (Rome, 1981) is a self taught artist living and working in Amsterdam. Working mostly with iron and electronic waste, his works range from sculptures to interactive installations, from drawings to performance and photographic collaborations. After several years working in management positions in Banking first, and in the Development Sector later, and travelling the world at large, he left his job and started his life and career as an artist. In 2016, he  joined the atelier of Bert Meister. Since then, Daniele has independently coordinated and produced indoor and outdoor community projects, and had solo and group exhibitions in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

    Collecting the City

This workshop is part of Collecting the City #4 Museum om de Hoek, a collaboration among 23 neighbourhood museums throughout Amsterdam. They introduce interesting neighbourhoods and the stories that make them unique. Better than anyone, these local museums are experienced in collecting and relating such narratives. This third edition of Museum om de Hoek includes the local neighbourhood museum Bellamy Buurtmuseum that provides a glimpse into the Bellamy neighbourhood and introduces its inhabitants.
