Elisabeth Maria (Bet) van Beeren (Amsterdam, Feb. 12, 1902 - there July 16, 1967) was an operator of Café 't Mandje from 1927 until her death in 1967.
Van Beeren came out openly as a lesbian, and in her café everyone was welcome regardless of their sexual orientation. Her colorful personality and her policies at Café 't Mandje have made her an icon of Amsterdam nightlife and gay emancipation.
